Miniature HD video cameras are really the rage these days. Resolution standard for video movie in modern camera had moved forward to High Definition (HD) resolution. Recently Kodak launched new product called Kodak Zi8 mini HD video camera. This product is the third model of pocket camera which has improved the two last models, Zi6 and Zi1. Kodak Zi8 mini HD video camera is presented by the vendor of Kodak to compete Flip Ultra HD Boasts 1080p recording. Of course, this product can produce exceptional image quality in a tiny package. It can take stunning full HD 1080p videos and less blur with built-in image stabilization including smart face tracking. Kodak Zi8 is supported LCD display 2.5 inches, larger than other Flip camcorders’ own.
In recording with HD video camera, Kodak Zi8 can record up to 10 hours of video and support stereo with an external microphone jack. It records about 20 min per 1 GB at 720p HD at 30 fps. Actually, the results may vary. It is planted 128 MB internal memory and supported an expansion slot of Secure Digital High-Speed Card (SD/SDHC) which can be upgraded until 32 GB. Kodak Zi8 has tremendous portable design which can show menu dropdown and able to handle uploading to YouTube and easy to join Face book or other social networking sites. It also has USB 2.0 (high speed) HDMI, AV out, and DC in jacks. No cables needed, just swing out the USB arm. Those are the strengths of Kodak Zi8 mini HD Video Camera.
On the other hand, Kodak Zi8 still has little weaknesses, especially on its light performance. However, the vendor had claimed they had already repaired and improved it better than the two last models. Meanwhile, the HD video camera of Kodak Zi8 is just supported by 5.3 MP CMOS. It is still too low if compared with other video cameras raised until 8 MP. The file format is H.264 (MOV), AAC LC. It is still JPEG zoomed digitally until 4X.
As the power, Kodak Zi8 uses Li-Ion Rechargeable Digital Camera Battery KLIC-7004, AC adapter. Kodak Zi8 is provided in impressive colors: blue, red and black. With dimensions 62.0 × 113.2 × 21.5 mm (2.4 × 4.5 × 0.9 inches) and weight 110 g (3.9 oz) without batteries, it is comfortable enough to bring it everywhere. This product will be sold in pretty nice for $ 179 or Rp 1.800.000 in September 2009.
